at some point in time maybe?
A very interesting article appeared in the TIMESONLINE on the 11th of this month concerning the treatment of type 1 Diabetes. As a member of this “club” for some 27 years I found it to be the most important development I`ve seen in recent years re. this disease. Basically, “Diabetics using stem-cell therapy have been able to stop taking insulin injections for the first time, after their bodies started to produce the hormone naturally again.” This appears to be the “Holy Grail” of Diabetes research, how to get the pancreas to restart/resume the supply of insulin.
As you can maybe see in the two pics above of some of my own equipment, being on insulin can be a serious drag! This is carried around with me where ever I go, if I`m staying out for longer than a couple of hours that is. So the idea that one day in the not too distant future people will be able to get “normal” again without infusion pumps or all the stuff above is truly good news. An end in sight for this disease do you think?
